APRIL 13/17 The BCHNS held its AGM and the Officers for this year were presented. President: Kathy Murphy, Vice President: Sally MacLean, Treasurer: Sue Forshaw & Secretary: Lynne Esson. Sally is the new member on the executive and we are happy she was willing to fill that vacant position.
The highlight of the evening was the presentation of Honourary Membership status to long time member Ethel Warbinek, who had been nominated by Glennis Zilm & seconded by Nan Martin.

The UBC School of Nursing annual Marion Woodward Lecture was held on October 27/16.
The afternoon symposium considered “Transformative Practices in Long-Term Care” in a panel presentation. The panel members were Nancy Gault, Deputy Seniors Advocate for BC, Dr. John Keady, Professor of Older Peoples Mental Health Nursing, University of Manchester, Sarah Leavitt, UBC Creative Writing Lecturer and author of Tangles, Dr. Alison Phinney, UBC School of Nursing Professor, and Jo-Ann Tait, Program Director, elder Care and Palliative Services, Providence Health Care.
The evening lecture, by Dr. John Keady, described the many innovative projects he is involved with in caring for those with dementia.
Early bird registration is open until April 30th. This option allows you to register for parking at the Century Plaza Hotel for $10.00/day on Friday and Saturday.

CNA will be holding a third Town Hall in the riding of Vancouver Granville on Wednesday, October 7th 2015. The event will be moderated by CNA president-elect Barbara Shellian. The Town Hall panelists will include a nurse, a home health care representative and a caregiver as well as the candidates campaigning to be the riding’s next MP.
Place: Diamond Ballroom (4th Floor, 1495 West 8th Ave.) from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. (doors open at 6 p.m.).
