Longtime Member & Friend, Sheila Oxholm passes
We are saddened at the passing of our friend Sheila Oxholm who Passed April 19, 2026.
Born in 1937 in Highley, Shropshire, U.K., Sheila died peacefully on April 19. She was predeceased by her husband, Ben, her brother, Denis, and her sister, Mary. A nurse and midwife, Sheila held many roles throughout her career, working in England, New York, Montreal, Newfoundland, Victoria, and Vancouver. She loved being a nurse and often shared stories from her experiences. After retirement, she remained active in volunteer work and in caring for friends who needed support.
Sheila was a long time member of the BC History of Nursing Society and contributed much during her the role as Treasurer.
Fiercely independent, practical, generous, and kind, Sheila said she had a good and happy life. She offered special thanks to James Kwan for his ongoing care and support. Sheila will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her nephews, nieces, and many friends. No service, by request.
