Helen Shore Seminar Room
“At the new MacIsaac School of Nursing at UBC, one class room is named “Helen Shore Seminar Room.” This room is dedicated to commemorate the contributions of Associate Professor Emerita Helen Shore, who was faculty at the School from 1965-1990, and remained friend of the School of Nursing throughout her retirement. In 2013, she generously supported the launch of the Consortium for Nursing History Inquiry in the MacIsaac School of Nursing, and remained actively engaged as the Consortium’s patron. Helen Shore was a founding member of the B.C. History of Nursing Society, serving as the first vice president and two terms as president and past president. She became an honorary member of the BCHNS in 2001. Helen Shore passed from our midst Nov 3, 2020. One of her last accomplishments was completing her book “Shore to Shore,” an autobiographical and family story of the “Canadian Shores,” in which she preserved the family memories. Some of the stories in the book are about her relative Florence Nightingale.”
