BCHNS longtime member passes

unnamedWe are saddened to hear of the passing of Ingeborg Von Maydell,who has been a long time member of BCHNS.

Inge, as we knew her, held the BCHNS Secretary position for many years to 2007, faithfully writing by hand & then mailing out to the membership. When the computer age & email arrived, Inge did not have a computer, so graciously handed over the Secretary position to someone with those skills.

  • From June 16-18, The Canadian Association for the History of Nursing Annual Conference will be held at St. Paul’s Hospital. You are invited to register for the entire conference (June 16-18) or for just the opening panel on “Health, History, and Indigenous Communities” on Thursday June 16th from 5:00 pm.

BCHNS member, Lydia Wytenbroek wrote an article in Honor of Nurses Week- “The Stethoscope: A Tool of Nurses’ Trade since the 1930’s” that got published today May 12th, as a lead article on the Blog “Echoes & Evidence” at The Bates Center for The Study of The History of Nursing, University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing.
