Current Activities and News:
BC History of Nursing Displays may be viewed at the CRNBC Board Room and Library, also at the UBC School of Nursing
Current Displays are:
CRNBC Board Room: Tribute to Lyle Morrison Creelman, world famous nurse of modern times
CRNBC Library: Military Nurse Edith Adnams
UBC Hall Display: Features books for young girls from the 1950's. Highlighting the display are 5 "collectible" books [owned by G Zilm] from the Cherry Ames series. The original books were intended to encourage women to enter nursing during the nursing shortages during and after WW11 They were such a hit that readers requested sequel after sequel.
UBC Learning Centre: Mannequin in Learning Centre, Features a "mini" white polyester white uniform worn by UBC Faculty Member, Ethel Warbinek in the 1970's during clinical supervision of students. Ethel's VGH 1950's cap is also displayed.
The BC History of Nursing Society is developing a new and more extensive Web site that will provide more information to nurses and others interested in nursing history, in particular, the Archives section will be more readily available online. |
